Sketches and work planes become no longer exported from base template .idw

Anyone know why this happens?

I made a few changes to my base template file with all of my solid bodies in it, I then go to some of my derived parts only to find this error saying that certain sketches are no longer exported. Then I have to run through Sketch Doctor to re-export (sp) the sketches. ??

Tough issue without having the model/data set to test with.
Here is what past similar threads have to offer:
https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/derived-part-solid-no-longer-exported/td-p/2700728
https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/sketch-no-longer-exported/td-p/6850858

Possible solution here perhaps? Try unchecking things for export and re-checking if that's applicable:

Thanks for looking into this for me and providing links! The posts you listed do help but there does not seem to be a solution. Very frustrating.

It helps if you can share your dataset (full pack and go or group of assembly+parts files). If it has confidential/protected information you can get an NDA with Autodesk and submit through their ticketing system, which is always a good resort to hard issues that require some work:
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/contact-support

For 99% of tough issues there is always a workaround at least, and if you get no traction here we can sometimes get the attention of some devs directly through this forum, to see if they can look into it while they're out of the kitchen for a breather.
@sundars or @johnsonshiue are very open to some of these quick challenges.

Hi @timdown73 @Gabriel_Watson

Thanks for reporting this. The problem you describe is very similar to another issue we found and fixed last year with similar symptoms (INVGEN-45910). Without looking at your dataset and steps to reproduce, it would be hard for me to say whether they are identical or not.

FYI....we fixed the issue on Inventor 2022. So, if you have 2022 please make sure to apply all the latest updates. you should already have the fix. I tried the issue on Inventor 2021.3 and its manifests so its not fixed on Inventor 2021.3.

The issue we found was fixed was related to level of detail suppression and sketch/workgeoms failing to update correctly in the derived part. It's easy to reproduce....

Imagine a model like this

A1x.iam

 + level of detail 1

    + P1x.ipt (say contains a box)

    + Workplane1 (created off a face of P1)

1. Create a new part

2. Derive A1x.iam with Level of Detail 1 as target LOD

3. Switch to A1x.iam

4. Suppress P1x.ipt

5. At this point, the assembly should contains just a workplane

6. Now, switch to the derived part

7. Update

It should fail with an error message saying "workplane not exported"

You can also reproduce it by using the dataset I have attached

1. Open P1xDerived.ipt

2. Open A1x.iam

3. Suppress P1x.ipt

4. Switch back to P1xDerived.ipt

5. Update

6. You should see the error.

Let me know if this is the same issue you are seeing. I know your post talks about templates and IDW, so is it a different variation of the same issue?

If you can post your dataset or email it to me, I am happy to take a look - you can reach me at: sundarsATautodeskDOTcom.

Thanks and hope it helps.
