In our drawing templates, I have a library of sketch symbols. In certain sheet formats I want to automatically place some of them. I started with an A3 template, inserted the symbol I wanted on the sheet and saved the sheet format. In that A3 template, if I create a new sheet, the symbols always come in as expected. No problems so far.
However, if I then copy my drawing resources folder across to a new template, from inside Inventor, everything appears as it should, except for the sketch symbol. The sketch symbol folder inlcludes the symbols, but they don't appear on the sheet.
Any ideas why this might be happening please?
Using Inventor Pro 2016
Many thanks
Did you only copy the symbols to the new template, or did you also insert them on the sheet in the place you want them before saving?

I think sketch symbols is not included in the sheet format definition when copied to another drawing. You can create a new idea in the IdeaStation if you want this badly.
To LT.Rusty; The sketch symbol is placed on the page in the template and the sheet format saved.
The sheet format is then copied and pasted into a new template. The sheet format takes with it the title block, border and sheet size. The sketch symbols also copy across the Drawing Resources folders, but they don't appear in new sheets created from these sheet formats.
To Smilinger; I've since seen similar comments, but I am truely confused by this. If the symbols are not stored in the sheet format definition, then I would expect not to see them in new sheets created from the original template, yet they do appear as expected. The sheet format definition seems to lose something when copied from one template to another.
I will take your advice and add to the Idea Station, although I think it should be a fix rather than an addition
Kind regards
