Simulation CFD link in Inventor is missing

Hi,

i installed Simulation CFD2015 to my previously installed INV2014 but the Link to Simulation CFS is missing (where i can launch the active model and so on).

How can I add this?

Thanks in advance

You might make sure the add-in is enabled. Go to the "Environments" tab, click the "Add-Ins" button (on the far right), click "CFD 2015" and make sure both checkboxes (Loaded/Unloaded and Load Automatically) are checked.

Then, restart Inventor as well as your PC if necessary.

Thank you. I already took a look at that list but Sim CFD is not listed there. Is it possible to add it? Or have I to reinstall Sim CFD?

Make sure that you have a model opened first within Inventor, you should then see a "Simulation" tab on the Ribbon Menu.

Inventor 2020, In-Cad, Simulation Mechanical

Just insert the picture rather than attaching it as a file

Hi @Anonymous, sorry for not getting back to you, somehow this one slipped through the cracks.

Please try the following steps from the CFD support pages (here😞

  1. Navigate to the CFD installation directory, typically C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Simulation CFD <Year>
  2. Launch the application called SimCFDConfig.exe
  3. Select the CAD packages to install a plugin for

After that, then go to your Inventor add-ins and see if the CFD add-in is available.

Yup I did that already. But I'm unable to check the box for the CAD packages to install

Hm interesting. Can you post a screenshot of what you're seeing?

Also, this is something that @Jon.Wilde would be much more knowledgeable about, he's one of the CFD experts over on the CFD forums. If he doesn't respond here, you might consider posting this question there, since this is as likely to be a CFD issue as an Inventor one: CFD Forum.

Oh, your problem may be that you're using Revit 2017 but CFD 2016. CFD might not be able to recognize versions newer than itself.

Do you have Revit 2016 installed or just 2017?

Probably the same year as your CFD, 2016.
