Shell problem

Hi,

I couldn’t able to do the Shell in the attached file. I have tried many times , but it didnt works and i have got an error  "the attempted shell operation would require a large topology change.try with a smaller thickness".

I need to give the thickness of 4mm.

Could anyone please help me to resolve this issue.

Cheers

Muthu

If your intention is to do a sheet metal flat pattern then use the sheet metal Lofted Flange.

I would also split it half way for welding anyway.

Hi Saluria,

Thanks for your swift response.

I have tried already which what you have done below.

But I want to make this transition as per the guide lines (3d Sketches) which i have marked in my model.

Is that possible ?

Cheers

I have saved the model under a different name. Edited the sketches smaller by 4mm allaround.

Derived this into my original model and used combine to remove the smaller body from the big one.

It's not flattening out. Is that what you're after eventually ? A flat pattern ? or just this shell ?

Fillets for the bends - just like the real world.

Hello Mather,

Sorry, I am not able to getting you.

Simply I need the Flat pattern transition piece as per the guide lines which i have marked by using 3d sketch.

Do let me know if it is possible?

Cheers

Muthu

In the real world - these corners must have bends.

Your rectangular sketch does not have bends.

If you don't use Lofted Flange then your resulting geometry must be -

Planes

Cylinders

Cones

to unfold.
