Hi Harold,

You found a bug!

Loft2 is bad, you can see that it has a couple of weird twists if you change appearance of the part to Clear.

This is causing Shell to take a long time - I'll take a look at what's going wrong. Stay tuned!

Cheers,

Ok so the bad loft is a mapping bug. A workaround is to manually add the mapping points. I don't have 2015 installed so here's a video of how to do it, make sure to line up the edges correctly using the green dot indication:

Now for the shell.

You can set a custom shell distance for faces of your choosing. Just expand the shell menu and add the face:

Another method is to use Replace Face after doing a uniform Shell:

Hope this helps!

Actually, don't use the Replace Face workaround for this part just yet, there's a different bug which is leaving behind a void, seen by using the Clear appearance again.

Cool, looks like we were aiming to get at two different results.

It always helps to include pictures that explain what you're trying to do, your first post could have included more information but I'm glad you got the result you were looking for 🙂

Happy Inventing!

Hi,

Looking at the end (Blue Face) the shell (15mm) gives an irregular shape at the entry point.

The diameter of the outside ring is 180mm but the inside is irregular. How do i get the inside diameter at 150mm?

Is there another method other then the Shell to carve out the cavity and have the inner diameter at 150mm?

Regards

Can you explain a bit about the design intent - what is the part used for?

I think I would model differently - but I don't understand the design intent.

It looks to me like the flanges would form the cylindrical features.

"I think I would model differently"

How would you then model the part?

Otherwise how would you remove the cavity so that the end has a entry hole of 150mm?

No worries. Thanks

Therefore do you see any issues with the wayi modelled the part?

I will ask though if you did model the part i attached would you use different tools ?
