Hi,

I placed a sheet metal folded part in the inventor drawing. The flat pattern option is not active.

I am using inventor 2022. Please see the attached image.

Thanks

Hey, you first have to create a flat pattern within the part. To do this, open the sheet metal part and within the "Sheet Metal" tab click on the button "Create Flat Pattern" (top right). Save the part and try to place it again in the drawing.

I got so sick of this that I added an iLogic rule to my sheet metal template and triggered before save.

It creates a flat pattern and then folds it back up.

Dim oDoc As PartDocument
oDoc = ThisDoc.Document
Dim State As SheetMetalComponentDefinition
State=oDoc.ComponentDefinition
If State.HasFlatPattern = False Then
State.Unfold
'If State.HasFlatPattern = False Then
'State.Refold
'End If
End If

Are you telling us, that once you have finished modeling a sheet metal part you are never curious - how does it look like in unfolded state? That's the first time I ever heard of such thing! 😃

Hi All,

Thanks for your responses.  I didn't active for a while.

Then I closed the file and open again, it become active.

Not only this feature,  some other features also took some time to update ?

Why ? Is it common in Inventor ?

Thanks
