sheet metal defaults will not save upon restarting my pc?! help

Back ground, joined a new firm with 1 years trading in sheet metal. currently running 2 press brake and installed inventor 2020, the previous cad guy did not understanding bending/k factors and never run tests - resulting in a lot of scrap parts.

I have since explained to the company the need for tests and setting up the k factors, test pieces are now cut and ready to bend. I plan on modelling the bend part then using the flat pattern, changing the k factors as I go until it matches our cut length.

I will then save these k factors under each material type and thickness.

THIS IS WHERE THE PROBLEM STARTS!

1. click on sheet metal defaults

2. click pencil on unfold rule

3. click new

4. name new rule (test a)

5. set k factor (linear)

6. right click (test a) click activate

7. click save and close

I then model a part and flatten it, save the part and dxf file.

close inventor

re open inventor

LIKE MAGIC MY SETTINGS ARE GONE?!!

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

Where are you saving them? (in the default Sheetmetal template- yes? I ask, as you'd be surprised how many don't)

Does your IT over write anything overnight / scripted startup?

Can you share your Sheetmetal IPT template to the ticket?

Hi! It sounds like you did not save the change to the template or back to the styles library. Like Mike said, please share the template file so we can guide you the proper workflow.

Many thanks!
