Sheet metal box flange

Sheet metal box flange

Hi,

Would you please tell me how to create an outer flange to the attached  box. I created it as a normal part where I tried to make the box of open ends in a sheet metal mode, but I failed because I didn't know how to do that. Keeping in mind that the final fold will be butt welded. I am appreciating your help in any case.

Regards

Convert the IPT to a Sheet Metal part with the correct "Thickness". You will need to open your Sketch3 and place a "Center Point" on the base surface where you want a "Rip" so the item can be Unfolded as the current shape doesn't have a "Start/Finish" edge. Then create the Flanges using the "Flange Tool" within the Sheet Metal environment. I can't post the file as you are on an older version. You should post which version you are on so we can supply the best solution to your needs based on your version of Inventor.
