 Hello friends!

Have some problem while I was doing sheet metal bending I couldn't maintain the exact(304) dimension, Attached here my attempt ipt file.

Sheetmetal is never exact, because it depends on material and bending process. Inventor uses approximations.

In your case, this can be influenced by:

- Rounded values in the flat pattern

- Position of the bend line

- K-factor

A close look at your file shows, that the bend extends into small regions of the short leg. Even my optimized geometry shows it, but that can't be done in reality.

I re-positioned the bend line, and changed the K-factor. Now it's better.

Remark: The used K-factor for the flat pattern should always be written to the drawing

If you would use flange feature to model it you would be able to get this exactly (at least in the model), but than probably your plat pattern would look different. (K factor and bending functions are than calculated in automatically)

I however do not know how this would influence actual bending process in real.

Hi Cris,

Already I was trying that way also that's why I took a reference from a flat pattern. Here is the ipt

Dear Betreff,

I need the exact 304 horizontal dimension if tolerance for sheet metal this part 2 both plus or minus. Also, i agree approx. dimensions. but here came 364 lengths after folding instead of 304. How is it possible? There are so many people's are there in the forum, Please solve it, If any mistake I made my side?, Please let me knowBEnd.JPG

Here is the material name_ S235 JRG2 - EN10025 - Tearplate 5/7(checker plate)

Please give the solution for me.

Then, also want to know how to insert that material into inventor library.

Length difference is caused by Sketch1. Total length there is 506 instead of 446

Open material dialogue in your part. right click on your local material - > save to library.
