Shear or bend line to punch mark (Inventor Nesting)

Hello all.

We are using Inventor nesting for nesting sheet metal flats together. We have a Multi tool turret punch and CNC Press Brake for bending and hydraulic shear for next shear. What we usually do is prepare edge to edge nesting and then put small dia punch marks at the common lines for shear or bending.

Now this punch marks for shear and bending, we have to manually add in AutoCAD after we export the nest and then delete the common lines. Is there any way to add such rule/script in inventor itself to add small diameter punch marks (circles) at common lines?

Softwares: Inventor Pro 2021 with Nesting, AutoCAD 2021 on Windows 10 Enterprise

What software are you using for programming the punch press? It might have the ability to process bend lines itself.

We also mark bend lines on punched pieces, but we have 2 embossing tools that will put a '+' mark on the top or bottom of the sheet (Dependent on bend direction).

I would imagine you could make a rule as well that would export your nests as well as remove common lines on its own

Hi spencer. Thank you for your response.

We are using FabriWIN to process the turret punch we have. Currently we just make the punch lines as hidden in AutoCAD after nesting and only keep the actual punched holes/whatever on the parts.

However if Inventor can do this job i.e. removing common cut lines or making them hidden and then put a punch marks (1mm dia. hole) on them then it would be of huge help to us as it would eliminate lot of work we have to do after nesting.

We are not very versed technically to use the rules you have mentioned. Is there any resource available on how to make those rules or if anyone can help with this?

Thanks!

Unfortunately I don't know of any specific tutorials for something like that, and thinking on it more it might actually have to be done through an AutoCAD script rather than through Inventor
