How do you share a part file in Inventor with someone else so they can edit it?

If you are going to share an inventor file with another person that has an inventor installed, you should both work with the same version of inv, if they have different versions they should export and import in step format, but with this format you can not visualize the development of operations in the browser will only see imported solids if a part file is for example.
If you want to share with another person who does not have an inventor installed, you should also import it in step format. Other formats that are also commonly used in other programs are sat, x_t, iges and many others

Hi! Are you trying to do concurrent engineering workflow, meaning multiple users edit the same file at the same time? If yes, I would discourage you to do that. Inventor was not designed to allow multiple users editing the same file at the same time. You can run into corruption or unpredictable behavior. It may work for simple cases but eventually you will be confused about what was done and what was saved and who did that when. The best choice (industry proving) workflow is to use an EDM system like Vault to manage the files. A file can only be edited by one user at a time. So you know who is editing the file and when it will be available for you to edit. Many thanks!
