Shaft Generator - Tolerancing?

Unless I am missing something it appears that you cannot apply tolerancing at model level when generating a shaft component using the shaft generator - this I find very confusing, given that a shaft in general is one of the typical components that you would undoubtedly want to apply a tolerance to!

Also, features such as circlip grooves do not appear to contain tolerancing information - so on the one hand, by using the shaft generator I am 'saving' myself time, but then when it comes to drawing the shaft up I loose the gained time because I now have to manually apply tolerancing to keyways and circlip grooves (which then of course is not linked to the model data).

If I am missing something, can someone please advise?

Whilst on the subject of tolerancing it is also quite frustrating that you cannot apply a tolerance to an extrusion - is there any reason for this?

Further on the shaft generator, what is the reason for the apparently unecessary assembly level that is automatically generated? Can this be disabled so that only a shaft ipt is generated?

And another thing......im on a roll now, three edits later.....

Why when placing a circlip groove am I asked to specify dimension 'x' which is from the end of the shaft rather than specifying the active length 'LF'.......surely LF is the one that you want to be tying up (eg bearing width).

They're working on that.... Well, that's what they've said for 4+ years now. Then, when they re-vamped the shaft generator 1-2 versions ago, it was going to be added then. Turns out it didn't make the cut.

Why do you need tolerances ? Just make everything nominal and it will work (in Inventor). 🙂

Ah I see - at least its not just me then. Shame its obviously not seen as a priority, its a pretty fundamental flaw in what could be (but as a result, is not) a good tool.

Hi Sadly I am working in Inventor 2019 and tolerances are still not added to the
shaft generator.

A great tool, if only it was able to have tolerances.
