Hello...I am in Application options and am changing the background colour of the screen, hiding the grid lines, ticking the autoproject on sketch creation etc...changing the settings to how I like them. Apply them, model something, open Inventor 2011 the next day and all of the settings have gone back to what they were...I am a bit stumped! Any ideas of why this is happening would be appreciated...regards... David.
These settings are stored in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER section of the registry, and I believe that they are stored upon exiting Inventor. Something is going wrong with the process: it may be a permission issue with your user account, or Inventor is not exiting properly, or your user profile is being deleted overnight... lots of possibilities.
One of my collegues had this problem with Inventor 2010 running on Windows 7. After running all the windows updates and all the Inventor updates, eventually it went away.
Iin the meantime I can only suggest that you export your settings so at least you can re-set your options pretty quickly.
One more thing to try after setting profile close Inventor with the X on the top right corner. I had a machine that would not set the registry till I did it that way it was windows XP.
