Selecting a file creates a cycle

Hi,

I have a product configurator which make assembly's for our company, a colleague used my configurator and messed something up 😞

there where linked parameters to parts which he overwritten, but now the link stays to the overwritten file.

if i try to change the overwritten file with the master model i get:

"Selecting the file ---------- creates a cycle. please choose a different file."

is there a handy tip that i can use to get it back?

all help is welcome 😄

It looks like you will need to investigate each an every step of the process.

  1. To start can you screen shot the error messages your receiving?
  2. Screenshot where you think the changes were made?
  3. If there is one file that creates the cyclic link can you change the parameters to hard coded and isolate the problem file?
  4. Can you provide the ilogic code ?
  5. Can you screenshot the parameters that feed into the code.

I think you may have selected the wrong file to re-link to. See similar article below, in case it helps:

Hi Folks,

This could be a corruption or there is indeed a cycle created mistakenly. If possible, please share an example that exhibits the behavior. I can take a look to understand it better.

Many thanks!
