Sectioned Assembly showing hidden edges

Hi all,

I tried searching through the forum, but didn't see anything quite like the issues I'm experiencing.

When I go to section my assembly, as soon as sectioning begins, all hidden edges suddenly become visible. When this happens, computing all the extra edges really bogs my computer down, and trying to rotate the model becomes agonizingly slow. Has anyone else experienced this? It's only happening on the one model.

I've tried to go in and change the visual style to "shaded with hidden edges" and then back to "shaded with edges", but it didn't fix anything.

Anyway, if anyone has seen something like this, or knows of an option for this that I'm unaware of, I'd definitely appreciate the help.

Hi Nick, Welcome to the forum.  Can't say as I have experienced this, but a couple thoughts.  One, did you create this assembly from scratch?  If so when was the first time you noticed this odd occurrence happening?  Second, have you tried loading this assembly on a different machine and did you get the same results?

I really want to suggest updating your graphics card driver to the latest version from the card manufacturers site for some reason...

This feels like a graphics issue.. 

Please try that..

Also ensure you are up to date with updates/service packs for your version of Inventor (whatever version that is)

Before I was able to try either of these things, I ended up refreshing the file in vault and that removed the issue.  I do remember pasting a component into the assembly, and then suddenly all the parts which were hidden before the paste suddenly became visible.  I'm thinking that might have something to do with it possibly. Either way, thanks again for your time and help guys!

I discovered this happening with another model.  I updated my inventor to service pack 2, which didn't have any noticeable effect.  Similarly I updated to the latest driver for my video card with no effect. I realized, however, that the model was loaded into express view.  When I loaded the model into full, the hidden edges disappeared.  Not sure if this is intentional or not, and it's kind of funny that the model runs more smoothly in full view than in express view.
