Screw threads missing in 3ds MAX import

Hi does anybody know why screw threads disappear when assemblies are imported into MAX? Is there a way to get them back?

They were likely "cosmetic threads" in Inventor meaning they're just a surface texture, not actually modeled.  You'd need to add a replacement "thread" texture in 3DS I expect though I have no experience with that software.

Ok I see, I did a quick bevel sweep on a helix and it looks ok. Might wrap this up into a plugin.

There you go.  Now make it a swept cut (into the diameter) rather than a swept "extrude" and you'll have it exactly.
