Saving to DWG

Hi All,

As per my previous thread i am saved my inventor model as dwg based on solution provided.

What happened is, the dwg file has individual members / parts as separate section i.e.,  it came as individual item instead of assembled block. Do i need to regroup it and make blocks as per assembly structure or is there a way during transferring data i can choose or deselect something to come as block for assemblies ?

Also, As per attached screenshot, it came as Top view whereas its front of the cage. How do i orientate the view as my Front instead of top ? It must be an assembly error, but can i change now in inventor? After full assy is done ? If so, whats the procedure? In AutoCAD, you just copy and paste in Front View. Del from Top view. Can we do something similar in Inventor?

Please help.

Many Thanks in Advance.

Yash

In the lack of a more customizable export function, just change what is the TOP view with your desired FRONT before you export:

I don't see any other option either for grouping, but when I export an assembly the subcomponents come as different 3D solids (or surface) in AutoCAD.

Hi! Also make the same change in the Inventor templates (iam and ipt). Next time it will orient Z-up desirably. Two additional changes to consider. After changing the Top View, set the ViewCube isometrically and set it to Home View.

In the template files , make origin planes visible.

These changes will ensure that the ViewCube stays oriented in Z-up direction.

Many thanks!
