Resetting Computer Reset Application Options

I was re arranging my desk and adding in a stand up converter, and I shut off my computer and unplugged a few things, replugged everything in and started back up... Now my application options such as color scheme, etc are reset to default. I still see my personal drawing templates though, so not everything got reset. Any clue as to why this happened or how to reverse/fix it without going back through and changing every single application option again?

Hi Jason,

These options are stored in the user specific %AppData% folder. It sounds that there was a systematic process to wipe out the files in %AppData%. You may want to try a simple test. Go to %AppData% and find \Autodesk\Inventor 202x\. Check the date for "UserApplicationOptions.xml" file. Is it fairly recent?

Make a copy and paste it to another folder. Restart Inventor and check the file in %AppData% again. Do the date stamps match?

Many thanks!

@johnsonshiue Unfortunately, it doesn't show a "UserApplicationOptions.xml" file, and all the other .xml files are dated back in February, which is before I even upgraded to 2024 and before I had my application options set where I wanted them.

I'm assuming the file got lost somehow and I'll have to redo all my options? And this time I'll make sure to export the file and save it somewhere on a thumb drive so I'll always have access to it, incase something like this ever happens again.

The xml files listed in that folder are as follows:

AddInLoadRules.xml

autocad_related_options.xml

inventor_default_options.xml

MigrateCustomSettingsControl.xml

These are all under Windows>Users>MyName>AppData>Local>Autodesk>Inventor 2024>Preferences

Hi! This is interesting. On my machine, these files are stored in \Roaming\ folder as opposed to \Local\ folder. I suspect there is a systematic process on your machine forcing Inventor to install these files in \Local\ folder.

Many thanks!

So I found the UserApplicationOptions in the /Roaming/ folder. Unfortunately, I believe my original ones are gone based on the date shown. Thanks for all the help!
