Save as part in assembly

I am used to Solidworks where from an assembly I open a part and do a "save as" with a different name, and the assembly gets updated with the new part.

I tried to do the same in Inventor 2023, but I can't make it work.

The only way I found is to do the save as, but the assembly doesn't keep the new part and then I replace the old part with the new one.

Is this really the only way or am I doing something wrong?

Is there a way to do the save as like Solidworks?

Thank you in advance.

One more question: does it work with the drawing of the part I want to rename?

No. A new part requires a new drawing. Depending on your needs, you can:

  1. Save a copy as (new name), open a copy, swap reference.
  2. Open drawing, swap reference, save (or save as).
  3. Create a new drawing with the new part.
