Rule Trigger on component move

I made a rule that updates the length of a spring when the arm moves up and down.  My problem is I have to manually run the rule to update the spring length whenever I change the angle of the arm.  I was wondering if it was possible to have the rule trigger whenever the arm moves.

Hi!

Depends on how you did that... but yes, it's possible.

You can trigger the rule after a changed dimension, or after saving the files.

Also, you can just trigger the rule from another part...

I have the event triggers set up like that but it doesn't update when the assembly moves.

springDist = Measure.MinimumDistance("Work Plane1", "Work Plane2")
Parameter("21-014:1", "d3") = springDist
iLogicVb.UpdateWhenDone = True

This is all the rule does.  Just gets the distance between the two faces and then sets the spring to that distance.

Use the same solution that I suggested in this post: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/run-ilogic-when-part-is-updated/m-p/8871863#M750186

Basically make a sketch and put in a reference dimension between projected lines, this will cause the Model Parameter change to trigger.
