Rough surface visualization

Surfaces are drawn extremely rough. On the attached picture you can see two surfaces and the intersection curve between then. Is there some way to enhance how well surfaces are presented on the display?

I am using Inventor 2021 with the latest update.

You can change the translucent that's about it for Surface.

What's the end goal, that might help for possible options

There is no real goal, it's just easier to work with surfaces, especially if they are many, if they have some resemblance to their real form.

Unfortunately it's limited.

I think some have asked for an option to change some of the colors on various Surface pieces to help like you're saying.

If it's more than one piece of surface in the browser you can turn off / on the translucent to make them appear different

Hi Olof,

Just by looking at the picture, I don't think it is normal. Something is wrong with the geometry. Please feel free to share it here or send it to me. There should be a logical explanation.

Many thanks!

Using the LOFT command you will get a better result.  ((IV 2021 file attached).

So the problem in not with surfaces in general but with the Coil command in particular. Maybe something that should be reported as a bug?

Hi Olof,

This is a bug in Coil. Coil was using an older version of Sweep algorithm, not particularly capable of handling profile touching the centerline. There are better workflows. Instead of Coil, I would use Twist Sweep (see attached file). Or you can simply create 3D Helical Curve.

Many thanks!
