Rolled sheetmetal cone will not "unfold"

I am trying to create a rolled cone in sheetmetal. The cone is open at the
top and bottom. I am creating an angled section of the proper width and
then revolving it around the centerline 359 degrees. The model appears
correct, however I am unable to unfold(unroll) it without getting an error
message. Is this something that is possible to accomplish?

Thank you

Make sure you have modelled the split line - Sketch on top face, rectangle - extrude - cut - all.

Select the outer face with your mouse then issue the flat pattern command.

Thanks John.

Selecting the outer face and then generating the flat pattern worked. I
wasn't sure what you meant by sketching on the top face though. Was I
supposed to revolve 360 degrees and then cut out a slice?

That's what I meant, but you could just revolve 359 degrees
