Rib between 2 corners

I have been struggling to figure out how to create a rib between 2 edges of 2 diameters.

 

When I click on the rib option, it doesn't seem to create it. See screenshot below:

I am trying to create a rib to go from the front face (on the right) to the flange face.

below is how I 2D sketched it:

Is there a way to solve this problem?

Just extrude one.

I have done that but it leaves gaps between the rib & the diameter underneath.

So there is no way to constrain it to both edges without lowering one side by a certain dimension? like you did with the 0.1mm?

Sure there is.

Go out to the shop floor and machine the part on mill/lathe.

This is what you will see.  (See Attached.)

sorry to bother i tried to use the rib command on 2 circular surfaces

i tried to follow your example.but im failing.seems easier just to draw a sketch?

Works fine for me, using 2022.3.  All I did was to click the two buttons circled below.

Hi Sam,

 

I don't believe there is a behavioral change here. Your case is different than OP's. The difference is at either end of the Rib sketch. Inventor Rib is a dual-mode feature. It can create Thin Extrusion and also it can extend the profile.

The OP's case is that the Rib sketch line is touching the cylinder at the quadrants. If the protrusion succeeded, it would create unwanted edges as JD illustrated earlier. Imagine extruding a triangular profile in OP's case. Your case does not have such problem. The profile can be merged with the base body nicely. It would work in any release.

Sorry, Johnson, my case can't be different from the OP's because I used the OP's file without modification.  I simply clicked the Rib tool and changed those two options from the defaults.  Yes, it creates unwanted edges (see below) and I would not model a part this way.  However, I am attempting to show the OP that the Rib tool does function with the geometry that they provided in their file.
