Retrieve model annotations not retrieving

I am trying to get part dimensions for an orthographic view drawing, it's a tutorial from a book. I attached the two drawing file if that helps any.

The steps I have been told to do are:

1) Click Retrieve Model Annotations
2) Select the view you want to retrieve annotations for
3) Click Select Parts to preview and select part dimensions.

I am doing something wrong but do not know what is yet...so instead of spending another 15-20 minutes on this I figured I'd ask. 🙂 Moving .gif of what I am doing below.

Just in case anyone else that's just starting out and has this issue....make sure you didn't move or delete files any .dwg or .ipt files in your project folder, like I did 😕 that seemed to be the issue. 😕

Hi! I suspect you use Default Project to manage your files. Then you move the files to a different folder. To fix the Resolve issues, it is quite simple. You just need to create a new project (preferred) and move all related files and folders under the \Workspace\. Then Inventor will be able to find the files. You can also relocate the project as a whole freely to any other folder in the future.

I have the same problem and still didn't find a fix.

Could it be possible that the "retrieve model annotation" is not possible with a STEP file?

I have saved the file after opening so that it is changed in an ipt file.

No dimensions appear when performing the retrieve... command.

Hi! For the 3DA imported from STEP, they cannot be retrieved in the drawing unfortunately yet.
