Retrieve Dimensions of iParts

I have a simple iPart for a steel plate. Users input the plate WIDTH, HEIGHT and THICKNESS. After the plate is created the user adds holes as required. Several plates are constrained in .iam file creating a welded assembly. Welded assembly is then brought into idw where it is dimensioned. Each plate is also brought into idw where it is dimensioned.

In the idw is it possible to use retrieve dimensions to get the plate size? The iPart seems to make the original sketch invisible?

When the plate is a standard part with the same user inputs, retrieve dimensions in the idw work just fine.

iParts are similar to content center and derived parts in that
they are a solid body controlled by parent driven parameters. They do not
contain a sketch.

I too would like to retrieve dimensions from an ipart. Sounds like a wishlist item?

An iPart "Child" is a derived part. There are no dimensions there to
retrieve.
