Hi,
I just installed Inventor 2017 and it keeps telling me that i have to reregister Inventor(see picture of error) . I already reinstalled it multiple times and it keeps giving me this error. I also used the microsoft tool to delete the old version.cleanly(As mentioned in other forum posts). It didnt change anything.
Thanks for some help!
See attached link.
Windows 10 x64 -16GB Ram
Intel i7-6700 @ 3.41ghz
nVidia GTS 250 - 1 GB
Inventor Pro 2018
I already tried all the things mentioned here. I had Inventor 2018 installed before that
Why did you delete 2018 in favor for 2017? Never gone backwards before. That could be the issue right there.
Windows 10 x64 -16GB Ram

nVidia GTS 250 - 1 GB
Inventor Pro 2018
Use the following steps to re-register Autodesk Inventor with your operating system:
1. Exit Inventor if still running
2a. Win 8/8.1/10: Select the Windows start button and type CMD (but do not hit an enter)
2b. Win 7: Select the Windows start button and type CMD in the search field (but do not hit an enter)
3. When CMD or command prompt appears in the list, right mouse click and select run as admin
4. When the command prompt appears, navigate using dos commands to C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor <version>\Bin or where your Inventor.exe is located if you changed the default install location of Inventor.
In this example I'm navigated to my Inventor 2018 (exe) location.
6. Type Inventor.exe /install.
Wait a few mins and restart Inventor. At this time you will not see anything occurring. Don't panic. However if you launch Windows task manager you can watch the Inventor.exe process (and see when it ends).
Does that resolve the issue?

So what's happening now? Nothing is loading? Are you seeing the splash screen?
If you go into task manager, how many Inventor.exe/processes do you see running?

Nothing is happening at all. Nothing opens, no loading signs and also no inventor.exe in the task manager
In this case it would have made sense to have both 2017 and 2018 loaded. Now you have neither sadly.
If what Mark is suggesting doesn't work, my suggestion would be to contact your VAR.

VAR means an Autodesk Value Added Reseller.. Disregard it because VARs don't support student license.
What happens if your RMC on the desktop icon and select run as administrator

Another issue i have is, that i cant install the Autodesk Desktop App. So i cant check if Inventor has the newest update. Once i start the install exe, a window pops up and dissappears right away and nothing happens afterwards.
UPDATE: You indicated you had Inventor 2018 installed (at one point), did that ever work?
Before we do a clean uninstall.. Run the Inventor reset utility
If that doesn't work, I would recommend that you perform a clean uninstall per these instructions. NOTE: The information within the article is solely based on you performing a clean uninstall of all "core" Autodesk products on your machine. In certain situations, you will most likely not be removing all of your Autodesk products to resolve a given issue. If that's the case, you'll need to adjust those settings and locations within the article to make sure you are not impacting those other Autodesk products you plan on leaving on your machine.
Then properly download and install Inventor per this article using one of the provided methods

The reset utility didnt help, i will now try a clean uninstall. It is Interesting that the reset Utility offered me to reset inventor 2017 and 2018, so it is still installed somewhere even though its not shown in the control pannel.
Hi Luca,
The information you provided so far isn't actionable. Please provide the followings.
1. What Windows are you running? Have you applied all critical updates?
2. Are you the admin to the machine?
3. Did you download the three parts Inventor 2017 install files? Or, you install on the fly?
4. Did you uninstall 2018 totally? Go to All Programs -> Autodesk -> Uninstall Tools -> make sure all 2018 related components are uninstalled. Reboot the machine.
Many thanks!
1: I am running Windows 10, i dont know if i have the newest update for inventor since i cant start the autodesk desktop app either.
