Replace From Content Center Does Nothing OR Causes Crash Inventor 2017

Hello All,

I am using Inventor 2017 and I have, and am currently working in multiple assemblies with some having a lot of components and sub assemblies and some having only a few. If I place a component into an assembly and the click "Replace From The Content Center" with another component, I will get the normal prompts to do so and then NOTHING will happen. Nothing changes or is replaced. Then sometimes I will go through all that and after I click on what I want in the content center it will shoot me to another screen to place the component from my C Drive. Then finally the worst problem out of the 3, it will cause a crash.

I can delete and place new components just fine. I have talked to Advanced Solutions, and Autodesk about this and they have given me work around's, and ask me to to un-install certain software, turn off add ins, and nothing. I have an "Open Support" Case but I am so touch and go with using the software I haven't been able to share my screen much when having the issue. I love the Inventor but I have had this problem for months. My company bought me a new computer and we are about to switch to 2018, but until then....Am I the only person who has had this issue?

Hi!

I never had those kind of issues in any previous versions.

Do you use project files to your work?

Carlos,

Thank you for your inquiry.

Yes, my co workers and I use the same project file. No one else has this issue that I have noticed.Project File.JPG

Are these CC components that you can't replace related to tube & piping components?  If so, disable your Inventor routed system add-in and test again.  Although this article is a couple of years old, the information within it describes what's going on.

Mark,

That was a really good informational article and I really appreciated it. I always wondered what the difference in the symbols were and why I had both. I have turned off the add in for now because I am not using it currently, but I still have the different symbols. Currently everything is working as it should so I will have to do an extended test. Most of the time everything replaces just fine when I click on the component I want to replace and then Right Click, select "Replace From Content Center". It is just randomly when it fails or causes the crash. But I will continue to test to see if that is the problem. Thanks!!

Make sure you are not in a positional representation,  needs to be Master.

Hi! When it crashed, did you submit the crash report? If yes, could you send me the email address that you fill in the report (johnson.shiue@autodesk.com)?

Many thanks!

Hello,

Sorry for the late reply as I have been upgrading to 2018 and testing to see if that was the issue. The email I used is wwilson@lectrodryer.com.

I still have the same issue and I have placed a screen cast of my problem below. This is with the tube and Pipe Add in LOADED. I will now try UNLOADED.

For a test before unloading your routed system module..  Right mouse click on your "tee" and select copy.  Paste a copy of it somewhere.  Next do a component replacement on the copy/paste tee.  Can you replace that tee with your cross?  If so the original tee is under the control of the routed system rules.  When you copy/paste, its pasted as a normal CC component and the pasted copy will have a different browser image.
