replace drawing view with new model MEMBER

I have created an iassembly containing 4 model parts. This file has 40 members.

Each of the part model files have 30 members.

My intention was to create a basic drawing for the assembly and each of the parts.

then.......

replace model in the drawing file and save the drawing with a unique name.

i thought that i could "save as" (file-member name), and then replace the model in the views with the specific member and save again. That way most of the dimensions would be connected to common points, i could insert model properties on the sheet like <DESCRIPTION> or <PART NUMBER> and they would update with the replacement. But, model members don't show up for replacement, just model file.

When i open a new member in the part model file the drawing updates to show the now current member. 

How can i choose a specific member to show?

i want to create 5 basic drawings and SAVEAS/REPLACE, not to create 160 drawings and dimension each individually.

ok

i figured it out.

i was trying to replace the model in the drawing with the parent file. i should have dug down into the factory folder and chose the specific member.

works now.
