Renumbering Items - Selected Rows does not work

Hi guys,

I cannot renumber items the way I am used to in an assembly, using the Renumber items icon, in Inventor, on the structured tab.

I normally sort my items by names and then make a selection of the ones I want to renumber with the Renumber items function.  In that specific case, Inventor does not take into account my selection and only allows me to renumber all of the items at the same time. See below the "selected row" option is greyed out.

Has anybody ever experienced this ? And anybody knows how to fix it ?

Many thanks,

Hello and welcome!  Can you please share what version of Inventor you see this on?  Is this with any assembly, or is it only happening with one particular assembly?

Hello @raffa_57000 ,

on my side, at least 2 rows have to be selected. Otherwise the item renumber options are grayed out.

Hi @CGBenner, thanks for your reply. It's on Inventor 2024 version. It's not with any assembly but with some ... I haven't found the link between them yet.

Many thanks

Thanks @cidhelp for your reply. On my side, it doesn't work even if I select multiple rows.

Many thanks,

I'm trying to reproduce this with some of my test assemblies, but I can't get it to NOT work.  Would you be able to share a small "dummy" assembly where you see this happening?  Something that you are allowed to share, perhaps?

If so, use Pack and Go and share the ZIP file here as an attachment.  Maybe by seeing it, we can figure out what is going on.

Hi! Please make sure all critical Windows updates are installed and the graphics driver is updated. Also install 2024.1.1 update.

The only logical reason I can think of is that there are predefined sort orders. If possible, please share the files that can reproduce the behavior here. The forum experts can help take a further look.

Many thanks!

this button was not working, now working, problem resolved.

I closed inventor end re-opened again.

I use inventor 2025 . (before, in this buttons place, there was a settings button)
