Hello

When rendering without an IBL scene everything is black - is it possible to render without IBL?

To mimic the inside of a car at night only using the interior lights what settings could be recommended please?

Regards

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I am not sure if Inventor is capable of doing what you want. Have you taken a look at Autodesk Vred? It can link to Inventor files directly and create realistic scene.

Many thanks!

Hello Johnson,
Thank you for the suggestion but Vred isn't on the companies books however 3ds max is & some youtube searching showed ‘lighting analysis’ which looked good.
However after installing I now realise 3ds max has another version … ‘3ds max design’ so I'm not sure if the IT department has 3ds max design on the subscription. Also Ii can’t find ‘3ds max design’ on the Autodesk web site. Currently the companies platform is tied to 2022 versions. Has 3ds max & max design been combined in later versions?

Regards

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I am sorry I don't know much about Max. You may want to go to 3Ds Max forum (https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/3ds-max/ct-p/area-c1).

Many thanks!

Looks like the analysis was an Nvida tool & the last version to use it was 2018..

I think for interior lights you are going to need to use Inventor Studio and use 'local lights.'

I've not use studio for a number of years, but I don't remember the local lights being particularly good, I often got light bleed.

VRED is definitely the tool for the job, but it's also very expensive and you'll have to reassign all your materials/appearance as the Inventor ones don't transfer very well. It'll look absolutely mint afterwards though!

If you're a fast learner you could always try the trial. I don't think it's possible to produce a bad render in that product.

3DMax can probably do it, but you'd get a much better response in their forum.
