Is it possible to rename/regenerate factory members and have them maintain their association with an iassembly?
i have an i assembly with 6 iparts. the assembly has 70 or so variations. Each of the 6 iparts contain 40 - 80 factory members.
i have completed drawings for all files, assemblies and parts. Now, (of course now) i have been asked to add a "B" in front of the part number. (part number = member file name). File name is 26075-24 and now will be B26075-24. I am worried that everything will go for a ship if i generate these new files. All drawings will be pointing to wrong files. All iassembly configurations will have to be re-done from scratch.
is there a way to do this keeping the original associations?
Do you have Vault?
Because I am pretty sure I have done renames and copy designs of factory's as well as the members within vault maintaining connections.
Why do you have 2 threads going asking basically the same question?

Thats what i was hoping. (to use vault) i was checking first for a good procedure.
i was un-able to delete the second forum post.
See the attached link for renaming factory members in Vault.
And see this link for using copy design within Vault to copy factory's and members.
