Refresh doesn't work on Custom library members

Hi All,

I have custom library members which used in my assembly.

I go to library -> and change the description in Family Properties (to have new description in BOM).

In my assembly, to update those custom members I go to:

but it comes back with the following message and doesn't update my members:

Is there a way to update custom library members?

Hi Ali,

When you insert the CC part from a Standard Library or a Custom Library, you can choose between Standard (not changeable) or Custom (changeable). The Custom members cannot be refreshed as far as I recall.

Many thanks!

Hi @johnsonshiue

Thanks for your reply,

Sorry I forgot to mention my member is a custom structural member which called by Insert Frame (in Frame generator).

For custom parts published in the library and inserted as Standard in an assembly, the Refresh works perfectly fine.

It seems I have issues with Frame members

Hi Ali,

I don't believe Frame member files can be refreshed. They are all custom CC parts.

Many thanks!

Hi again,

That doesn't look fine!

Imagine you build a giant structure using Frame tools and decided to modify one the members(which has been used in the assembly a lot).

You do the update in library

and wanted to implement that in to your assembly.

I am hoping that there is a way for this....

Custom published, i.e. you made your own shape and put it in CC should work.

If you select 'custom' on placing CC parts though it won't work because it's now a new file on disk and not linked to CC anymore.
