Could a macro be set up if the layers have a set naming convention?

which layer to toggle back on for any editing - which
is where I know I'm going to make a mistake 😞

But that would be the ideal place to have such a selection; Off, On Screen
only, On Screen & Printer.

I don't know iVB(A) well enough so I don't know how much Layer/styles info is exposed to the API.

But I guess you could have a Layer that won't be printed. A macro could turn this layer off, print, then turn it back on.

That's probably going to be your only option since IV
does not yet have AutoCAD's ability to specify which
layers will be printed or not
