RDRAM vs. DDR SDRAM

I'm looking at a dell 350 workstation for Inventor. Is 512MB PC1066 RDRAM
any worse (or even better) than 1GB of DDR266 SDRAM? I know its supposed to
be "faster", but I've heard conflicting opinions about the advantages.

Alos consider that this workstation will have P4 2.4ghz, Quadro 750xgl, and
will be used for 200 part Inventor 6 assemblies, and often MS
word/excel/outlook will be running in the background.

Thanks,
Brad

Rdram is a little bit faster, and way more expensive.
If you want to upgrade the memory in the future, rdram will be even more rare, and more expensive.

I have a similar 340 (700 xgl video and whatever the motherboard differences
are between the two) with 512MB of RDRAM. I may not always have 200 part
assemblies, but it runs good. I was just looking at the site and would
probably have to take the free upgrade to the 1GB RDRAM. I don't beleive the
ECC memory gets you all that much with IV. I could be wrong on that one
though.

Regardless of RDRAM or DDR, 1GB or RAM will definitely be an improvement
over 512MB. Long term, adding another 1GB or 512MB of DDR will be less
expensive. I have used both types, and quantity of RAM will yield more
noticeable improvements than type. IMHO (and sometimes not so humble ).
