quotation marks

I installed the 2021.2 Inventor update on my workstation yesterday morning. After that Inventor started having a odd behavior. When I would place a steel shape out of content center the size of the material would not put the correct text for the size of the material in the BOM. It was adding extra quotation marks for inch size material. For example a piece of steel angle that should be 2" x 2" x 1/8" W.T. x 12" LG. It would add a couple of extra quotation marks for example 2""" x 2""" x 1/8""" W.T. x 12"" LG. I checked the family table in content center to see if it was showing the correct syntax for the sizes. It was showing that it was incorrect there as well. I even checked a steel shape that is in a content center that I have not used in one of my designs. Are content center is on are vault server and shared with the rest of the members in are design group. I checked with the other members and I was the only one with the issue so far. I reinstalled Inventor without the 2021.2 update after erasing the program data files to resolve the issue. Because I was curious, I installed the 2021.2 update over lunch and the extra quotation mark behavior continued again. I uninstalled the update this time to resolve the issue for now. I just wanted to bring it to your attention.

Update 4-15-2021 I just installed update 2021.3 within the release notes is line "Resolved an issue with double quotes appearing in the library family table. INVGEN-48344" And at least for me, the double quotation marks behavior is still happening.

Hi! The issue should have been fixed on 2021.3 update. Please double-check and see if 2021.3 is indeed installed (Help -> About). It should say "build 353, 2021.3 update."

Many thanks!

Hi Sam,

Many thanks for correcting! I was using an older 2021.3 build. The official one should be 353.

Thanks again!

I just checked the behavior again this morning. I am still getting extra quotation marks. My inventor says build 353 release 2021.3 date Thu 03/25/2021.

Hello Mr. Garner,

are you saying you have issue with double quotes while your colleagues don't? If yes, you could try to change the folder where part from Content Center (CC) are located. Because Content Center is looking into this folder and if CC components already exists there, it is used as it is (and could be wrong from past on your PC while your colleagues are OK).

Also you could try (make backup first for sure) to delete other cache folder, where families information (CC family table) are cached - "c:\Users\<your_WIN_user_name>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Inventor 2021\Content Center"

The INVGEN-48344 is something little bit different.

Let us know please if

- CC folder change in project helps

- Cache folder deletion helps

Regards

Jan, To answer your questions. First, I am the only one having the issue at my company. Second, I have already tried the clear content center cache idea. Third, I don't know if change the content center folder location is really possible. We are using Vault and I think that the content center folder location would have to be common on each users workstation.

Hello,

It is "good" only you have issues with quotas, better than all people have issue. But interesting, all people should have same situation - all people should be OK or all should be BAD. Please make sure you are connected  to the same server as you colleagues they are OK, make sure you are connected to Remote/Local server as your colleagues, basically set up your PC / Content Center as your colleagues they are OK.
