Q 4 Sean re AUs

Sean, I understand you present lectures at US Autodesk Universities - can you correct me where I'm wrong. Are they run as sales days ? How much do they cost ? How do they compare to the following description of the UK AU @ Rockingham ? ( I can't speak about the other venues) The event was free, location was good. Sales pitch about Adesk followed by sales pitch about Acad Mech. Buffet - v. good. For 3d users (can't speak about program for 2d users) Hard to follow Tips & Tricks for AIS & AIP - no hand-outs Case Studies, apparently two companies use Inv to great benefit - one even supplied an avi Sales pitch about Vault & Streamline Prize Draw Bearing in mind the company I work for lost one day's production from myself, did I/they get value for money ? How do these compare with Autodesk Universities in the USA ? What do other UK users think about the UK AUs at other venues ? -- yours Duncan Anderson Engineering Draughtsperson SPE International Limited http://www.spe-int.com/

Free? And you're complaining? US AU costs roughly US$1200 It runs for 4.5 days - 1hr to 2 hr sessions IIRC with handouts - no sales pitches. All classes are generally excellent. |

Ron covered it... Sales pitch.. not really. It is sponsored by Autodesk so they will talk about their products obviously. I think it was a wonderful resource even at $1200. I've heard how good the US AUs are and wanted a comparison. As AUs they were "lacking". I don't think they should have been called AUs, but RoadShows . G'day Duncan, I to went to AU last year for the first time, I could only compare it training that I had received from the Autodesk Authorised Training Centre that we have here in Melbourne....I think AU has the potential to be a worthy exercise, but I walked away thinking there should be more hands on instead of sitting in lectures for a couple of hours then handed a fairly brief copy of the info the speaker had just presented. The event is put on by Autodesk, so why couldn't there be more courseware supplied by Autodesk. As for Sean, he was one of the top three speakers at the event. I attended his "Linked External Parameters" lecture and fould the handouts to be in the top two, that I received at the event. Me personally would rather spend 4-5 days at a training center with the likes of Sean at the helm and give him the money and actually learn something. Las Vegas was a great spot. At little bit of explanation for 'free' read subscription. Unfortunately there were no guest speakers. Very little technical on Inv other than adaptivity. There was more at the Users meeting at Warwick University. It shouldn't have been called an Autodesk University - more of a Roadshow. That said, it's good that an Inv. community is being built in the UK. To summarise, could do better, but keep on trying - it'll be worth it in the end.
