Hello, so I have this huge problem. I downloaded to install Inventor. Then I opened it and chose that want to do part. Everything was still fine. After I had loaded lions when I choose that I want to do a sketch I could not click on anything and Inventor closed itself. Then it opened the window below.

I did uninstall it and install again but the result was the same. Please if anyone knows what to do to fix it, or have that experience too, help me. Thanks everyone. autodeskinventor.jpg

No no no!  Why does everybody do this - repeat the same steps expecting different results without asking questions first?

Oh boy, here we go!

Q1. What version of Windows OS?

Q2. What version of Inventor?

Q3. Did you install with anti-virus and UAC temporarily disabled?

Q4. Did you install the latest Service Pack and Update?

Q5. Which download/install method did you use?  Did you use Install Now or Download Manager?

Q6. Are you a student?

Q7. Did you fill out that report and send it to Autodesk?

Follow my instructions exactly - and do not proceed beyond any stated instruction.

Step 1. Search Google for Autodesk Clean Uninstall Instructions document and do what is says to do to remove all traces of your previous attempt.  Post back when Step 1 is completed.

By the way - where is your instructor?

Yes, your teacher from school.  I can't help but wonder why you aren't getting help from a real person, the person paid to teach you.

Step 2. Download the 3 files from the Autodesk Virtual Agent.  (but do not install the software until instructed)

Post image similar to this showing the file size of the downloaded files.  ( you should have 3 files for 2016 rather than 2 shown below)

Post image of the 3 files downloaded - just as I requested.

You can use the Windows Snipping tool to grab the screen capture image.

Very important Step 3 to follow once we have verified successful completion of Step 2.

Well this is what I was expecting to see

Inventor 2016 Browser Download.png

showing the file size.

I will assume the download went OK.  These three files are just like having a physical media install - so do exactly that - back up these files onto a USB drive or DVDs and you will never have to download (2016) again.

Create a Windows Restore Point (if you don't know how - Google it, or the Windows OS search will also explain how).  I name it something like Before Inventor 2016.  That way I can anyways get back to this point.  Once you have verified a successful install, you should create another Restore Point, named something like Good Inventor 2016 Install.

Disable UAC (lowest setting) (if you don't know how - Google it, or the Windows OS search will also explain how).

Reboot your computer.  (don't forget to re-enable UAC after install)

Disable anti-virus (don't forget to re-enable anti-virus after install, I set it to automatically re-enable on next reboot).

Start install of Inventor by double clicking on 001_003.  This will automatically extract install files from all three compressed downloads (I assume you have them all in one folder.  I prefer to have in a folder at the Root of C:\  I call it C:\Autodesk Zips

Follow the on-screen instructions.  Post back if any problems are encountered.  I always install in 30-day trial mode, but since you already attempted install before - you will probably not be presented with that option.

Next instructions to follow.

@Anonymous   Are you still getting the Customer Error Report (CER) dialog?  If so do the following.

1.  Get the Customer Error Report dialog back.

2.  Do not close it.

3.  Go into WIndows Explorer and go to C:\Users\<user name>\Appdata\local\temp folder.  Appdata is a hidden folder.

4.  Locate the file dmpuserinfo.xml or something like that.

5.  Open the file in notepad or an xml editor

6.  Remove your serial # information and any other personal info you see,   All the personal info is located at the very top.

7.  Save file as something else and attach here.

Install Service Pack 1 and Update 1 for 2016 and test again.

I think I forgot to ask - Do you have Microsoft Excel on this machine and run at least once before install of Inventor?

In the error report dialog, select on the view report button and three files are listed in there.  Hover over the user dump one and confirm the file name.
