Problem Creating Shell

Inventor community,

When trying to shell this part (attached) in Inventor 2022, I get the error "The attempted shell operation would require a large topology change. Please try again with a smaller thickness."  I have tried with both larger and smaller thicknesses, with similar results (and a variety of other errors such as "unable to solve for a vertex" and "the operation failed to produce a meaningful result").

The original attempted shell thickness was 3/16 inch, with several faces removed as part of the operation (the faces in question will be the faces in the final "Delete Face" operation on the sidebar, which has been constructed only for the purpose of denoting them; without them it becomes a surface body and cannot be made into a shell).  As you can see in the part, several extrusions have already been suppressed to make the part simpler to shell, with no success.  I am aware that the part is rather messily constructed, and suspect this may have something to do with the shell command failing spectacularly and in so many different ways.

Any help would be appreciated.

-Michael

I had a quick look at it and it wouldn't shell for me either, but I didn't fix any of it first.

Never mind now, I went back to an earlier version of the part and shelled then and added in other extrusions after that.  Problem solved I guess.
