Problem activating product

Hello,
I am a PhD student who wanted to use Inventor. After installing and receiving the serial number by e-mail, I wanted to activate the product, but I still get the error: "The entered serial number is incorrect"
How is this possible if I am entitled to 3 years of activation?   
Product:Inventor Professional 2020
License Type:Education Stand-alone
Access Type:Single-user
Authorized Usage:Install on up to 2 personal devices*
Product Key:797L1
Serial Number:xxx-xxxxxxxx
Term:3-year term

For Installation, licensing and activation please use the installation and licensing forum https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/installation-licensing/bd-p/24 and not the product based forum.   I will have the moderator relocate your posting there to best suit your needs.

 

Although the forum rules caught you serial # and "X" it out, for the future please do not share your serial # or sensitive info on a world wide public user forum.

 

Just to check, when you installed Inventor 2020, did you pick Inventor or Inventor Professional?   And I assume you download the 2020 version and not another version?   When you launch Inventor does its state Inventor Professional?

I downloaded the Proffesional 2020 version from: https://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/inventor-professional and I have a trial version

But when you installed, there's an option to install Inventor standard or Inventor professional.   The installer is for both levels of Inventor   When you launch Inventor what does it state in the WIndow Title?

Both versions appear. I chose Professional 2020. And which version is for me?

The full blown Inventor Professional version is given to students..

This is the version I installed, but when activating I get an error that the code I received in the email is incorrect. How is this possible?

Please post a picture of the "About Inventor" dialog box (hit the dropdown arrow next to the question mark icon in the upper right hand side of the screen) to prove you have Inventor 2020 Professional Installed.

Can you go to manage.autodesk.com and product/services.

 

Show screen shot of your Autodesk Inventor 2020 listing and blur out your serial # in the image before posting.

In the end it sounds like you have sync issue with your Autodesk Account.   Since its related to educational you will need to contact their support team https://www.autodesk.com/education/support/edu-contact-us-form

I've been trying to solve this problem for several weeks. Where you directed me I was and they did not help me. I'm slowly losing faith that I can install it

Going through your posts there appears to be a 'disconnect' between your serial number and account.

As you have requested a serial number, a serial number has been generated but not appear in your management window. So as Mark suggested EDU support will be able to link them together and get you working

@Mark.Lancaster Is this becoming common? As I've seen quite a few similar Inventor issues in a short time.
