In Presentation how do you apply a Visual Style to just selected parts?

For example, how would you highlight a single part in red?

Thanks mdavis, I appreciate your effort.

This is the correct answer, but this really isn't good enough from Autodesk.

The absolute basics for technical publications/presentations software is a technical illustration option and the ability to highlight parts.

Why is this not in?

They just updated 2017 ... might be a good time to throw an idea about what you'd like into the Idea station.   Also join the beta program, they are always looking for idea's.

A lot of 2017's new features came from the idea's station.

Thanks mdavis.

I was part of the original beta program, but that seems to have closed now. Not sure I can get back in.

I have already made the suggestion, amongst others, in the ideas forum. Will be interesting how many get picked up as the Presentation/Publisher community is obviously vastly smaller than the Inventor one so some ideas may get lost.

So what is it specifically you are wanting?.. Or can you post a link to your ideastation post (I might vote for it too)..

I agree that it would be nice to override the appearance of parts and have it show up in the timeline so you could quickly "highlight" a component during that specific tweak.. (So appearance override would be a "visual tweak" of sorts)

But the scenes also support design view reps (which I believe is the current/intended workflow)..

A bit long winded, and forgive me if I'm teaching how to suck eggs, but...

Inventor Publisher was specifically aimed at the world of Technical Publications and so it attracted technical writers and illustrators such as myself.

The idea was instructions and stills could be grabbed from one place, and Publisher did this well but was highly unstable.

The new Presentation is meant to replace Inventor Publisher, but it has lost a lot of features.  For example you cannot do this:

4Oi7h4i

Or at least you can't without changing all the snapshots (which means they aren't really snapshots imo).

You used to be able to then link everything together for an animation.  Now you can only do an animation that shows moving parts.

I've requested it briefly here.
