Precise Input fields are grey when they should be active.

I am currently looking for a CAD system for projects with solid 3d parts. I know that everyone says that nobody use precise input nowadays but most of the parts I will design are circle-shaped and it is very convenient for me to use precise input.

So the problem is:

As you can see there is no fields to input. Is it bug or something?

Please help!

Thanks!

I'm having trouble imagining any part modeling where using precise input would be an efficient way to produce a fully constrained sketch-- would you be willing to share a sample part, or an image of one?  How much experience do you have with 3D modeling?

I know that doesn't answer your question, so I also tried your scenario in Inventor 2017-- works here.  With the precise input window on screen, the input fields are active for the Line command.  What Inventor version are you trying?

Make sure that you have installed all the Service Packs and Updates. Links are at the bottom of this webpage under the "Support & Learning" heading.

As with the other post, not really sure why you feel the need for precise input. Use the projected Origin Point to anchor your sketch. You need to step back from a 2D based methodology. Remember this mantra; "Inventor is not AutoCAD".

If you notice on your screen, you will seem a vertical and horizontal cross lines. This is the 0,0,0 origin point, you should have projected a small grounded work point dot. When ever possible, use this point to be the center of your part. This will allow you to use the Origin Work Planes to mirror any features that are created in your part that has symmetry.

I've been using Inventor for almost 18 years now, designing commercial transportation equipment and have yet to use the precision input tool.
