Position text in a sketch

I need to model several labels for connector headers that identify each pin.

1) I would like to be able to dimension to the centre line of the centred text but Inventor will only let me snap the dimension tool to its bounding box.

2) When I dimension the separation of text objects, instead of moving the text object (as it would do with any other feature) Inventor changes the size of the bounding box for the text and the centred text does not move.

How can I overcome these issues. Appreciate any tips offered.

When in the text dialog box you can unselect "Text Box" and then set its horizontal/vertical justification to show the point in which you can precisely dimension to.

Or outside of the text dialog box you can just right click on the text and uncheck "text box" to do the same but you still may need to edit the text to set the justification to enable the point where you want it.

Thanks @mcgyvr . That works.

What I ended up doing was drawing lines where I wanted text and then aligned the paragraph text to the lines - because you can snap to the mid-point of paragraph text for constraints but not for dimensions.

Changing the text to non-paragraph text seems to be the way to go. Unfortunately there does no appear to be an option in the Style and Standard Editor to make non-paragraph text the default style. I guess that I have to press this button every time that I want to place text.

Thank you.
