Plug Welds in Weldment Environment

I have exhausted all resources to find a way in the weldment environment to create a plug weld.

My work around would be make a part that will fit into the plug section, make it reference, then do a radial groove weld from the inside face of the hole to the outer surface of my new reference part, then just make the reference part say .0001 dia. so then it appears as a plug weld.

I had my blinders on and was focusing strictly in the weldment environment and "graemev" made a really good point...

You can but it's a pain.  Use the Groove Weld command. Face1 is the surface on the Base part that is the bottom of your Plug-Weld, Face2 is the side-wall of the Plug Hole and use the Fill-Direction with the "Radial Fill selected.

This works for round plug holes.

When selecting radial fill, it will blank out your fill direction arrow, can't have both.

OK, you had to increase the difficulty!

Try creating an Off-Set Work-Plane to the counter-sunk height you want the Plug to be at. Use this for your #2 selection.

You would need to have a "Split-Face" on the upper hole to limit the Plug Weld from propagating all the way to the top.

I thought of a quicker solution. When you create the Hole, use the Counter-Sunk option and make the upper portion of the Hole slightly different in size than the bottom portion that will be Plug-Welded. It only needs to be .0001 different in size. The size difference won't show up in your drawings unless you are going to 1/1,000" of an inch. It will be a chance is surface that should work for you.
