PDF to Inventor

 I have a drawing of a part that was sent to me but its missing dimensions. Is there any way I can use inventor, fusion, or autocad to put the pdf in and take dimensions?

Place the image into sketch(s).

Dimension the image such that a know feature in the image is correct size.

Start a new sketch and trace over the image.

Attach the *.pdf file here if you can't figure it out.

The "smartest" way is to request whomever send the drawing to fill in the missing dimensions..

I'm assuming you might be a vendor for them..

I wouldn't want to "risk" making a mistake and then the blame goes on you.

Hi Rindos2001,

You can place the PDF into an AutoCAD DWG as a PDF UNDERLAY, and then measure and/or trace over it by snapping to endpoints, etc. If the drawing is scaled you have to scale the PDF Underlay, or scale your traced geometry afterwards.

Note that I wouldn't typically recommend this for recreating precise parts, etc. but I have used it on occasion to pull missing information from a PDF drawing.
