Pattern feature along profile

Hello,

I'm looking to pattern this feature along a sketched profile of lines and arcs, and I want the pattern to maintain it's position normal to the curve as it follows it. (See attached pic.) I'm seeing some examples using the "rectangular pattern" (?) command, but I don't see an option to follow the curve normal. It also seems like it might be moving my path to the origin of the feature I'm trying to pattern before patterning it? (see 2nd attached pic.)

I want to do all this in the part; don't want to maintain an assembly for this.

What I'm trying to emulate is a piece of rebar, bend into a shape.

I've tried patterning within the sketch with even less successful results.

Thanks in advance!

Ben

Attach your *.ipt file here and someone will show you how to set Direction 1 and verify the Start Point.

Are you sure Sweep4 is what you really really want (examine the fillets)?

Not sure.

Meaning that they end up with different sized surfaces if I use a common radius?

It's not a critical feature, it's just the rebar texture.

I'm very open to suggestions on what improvements you'd make though.

I've attached a picture of the ladder assembly this part goes in.

Thanks for your help.

Rebar texture.

Is something like the attached what you are after?

Do you really need the modeled ribs?

Would a cosmetic texture be good enough?

Yes. That's perfect.

So is it the expanded dialog box options that I missed?

What did you have to modify from default?

Is the Orientation - Direction1 telling it to hold it normal to the path?

Seems like maybe a separate command as I've seen suggested on here would be good for this kind of thing.

I appreciate your help JD!
