ive been trying for the past hour to pattern a chainlink across a workpoint pattern. ive scoured the forms as well as looking at an example of another chain which uses a similar workflow to mine. when i click the constrained feature, the workpoint pattern doesnt show up. the feature is constrained to the original workpoint, and only features within the workpoint pattern. both files as well as the assembly i have them in are attatched below

Hello,
Not sure this is what you're looking for.
The workpoint pattern only shows up in the modelling environment and not the assembly environment, see screenshot below:
Additionally - open the reference file, edit the array, expand the dialog box and change the direction the pattern follows.

Hi!
im not asking about rectangular patterns in part files, but instead pattern using a work point path in an assembly to pattern across. I’ve seen it be done before, but I’m trying to replicate it for my own project. It should be under the pattern tab in an assembly, and the option that isn’t circular or rectangular. Thanks for the help!
Hey,
I'm fairly sure you can't pattern a component in an assembly following a path like for your chain without basing it on a part level pattern.
Did you open my assembly file and look at the result? Not too sure what you're looking for if you did.
I've designed quite a few custom chains and I don't really know of any another way to do it. Maybe someone else can help with this.
I was able to figure out what the problem was. Essentially it was just me being unable to select the patterned component (the part level pattern) because it was made of purely work points, so I made surfaces be included in the patterned component, and I was finally able to select it and pattern the chain. I’m still going to try your solution though to see if it’s better/more efficient than mine. Thanks for the help!
The problem is the priority of choice, so in the first comment the @bastienGQQ2F showed you how to enable this choice.
No additional surfaces are needed for anything.
