Pattern a Feature Along a Solid Edge

This is a slight modification of what was in the video. 8 features along the edge is not coming. How to fix it?

When selecting a curve some points are highlighting (color in red) selected curve only, other points are highlighting (color in red) entire curve (fig3). What is the reason for that?

When you get a single curve selection - you are actually selecting an edge of the part solid body.

When you get all the curves in a selection - you are actually selecting the sketch, not the solid body edge.

Because they are overtop of each other this can be confusing to a beginner.

Your instructor should have covered this in class.

Why when pattern tool is active, it is not possible to activate Sketch 3 (red curve) from model window?

You can't use the sketch that is used for the extrusion as the pattern reference too. Create another sketch and just project the geometry from the original sketch into that one and then use the second sketch as the pattern reference.
