Paste Resource Dialog box Opening when Copying a sheet from one drawing to another (Inventor 2024)

Hi everyone,

I've recently updated to Inventor 2024 and have had a few issues pop up that I hadn't seen in previous versions of Inventor.

During my workflow I'm often copying a sheet from a drawing to another drawing. This drawing is usually a new drawing from the same template. Since updating to 2024 I've had a Paste Resource dialog box pop up, saying the folder already contains a resource named __(title block name)__ would you like to replace the existing resource or create a new one.

Typically I'd just hit replace, and then when I copy this back to the original drawing after replacing the model reference in the drawing I am met with the same dialog box again.

When updating from 2021 to 22, 22 to 23, I hadn't seen this dialog box pop up. It's not the end of the world however with how often I do this that extra click will eat up time over time.

On a side note if anyone knows how to replace model reference on only one sheet vs all the references in the drawing I'd be happy to learn about that.

You might have set the prompt not to show with default respond in old IV.

I'm not seeing any of those "don't show again" type options on the dialog box. I had been keeping a log of all the dialog boxes and pop ups that are appearing after each update in the yearly version and I had a glance at my history and haven't come across this before.

Hi! This could be a migration issue. Please make sure the Styles Library has been migrated to 2024 (use Style Library Manager). If possible, please share an example that exhibits the behavior here or send it to me directly [email protected].

Regarding replacing model reference, it is per model reference replacement, not per view or per sheet. Once the source is replaced, it will apply to all views and all sheets that contain the model source. A tedious workflow may help. You could copy the sheet that you would like to replace model reference to a brand new drawing file. Replace the model source in the new drawing. Then go back to the old drawing and delete the sheet. Copy the new sheet back to the old drawing.

Many thanks!

I think this is the "Paste Resource" message.  Its basically saying your copying in the same title block (for instance), do you want to replace that title block or it will create a copy.  We get this per sheet and copying in maybe 100 sheets, you get that message per sheet.  I also did not see any prompt adjustments that could be made.  Would be nice to check replace once and it remembers for that object on all the sheets you are copying.  We will probably be writing something custom so our users can avoid the message each time.

I'm at the point where I'm just copying pages to replace models in the drawings. I know there was a suggestion to be able to adjust the replace model reference to have it as a per sheet or per view. If that was the case I wouldn't have to copy paste pages so this problem although unsolved would likely no longer remain an issue for how I have my work flow set up.
