Parts list

I can create a new parts list, I can save it out there. When I create a totally new assembly, create the drawing, and try to insert the custom parts list with all the items from the previous drawing. How do I make sure my new custom parts list can be inserted into a new drawing, each time it is inserted, it will populate with the current parts in that particular assembly within the drawing?

Are you basically asking how to update your drawing template so that the part list is the same every time?

I needed to use the new template, because it has the correct columns that we have been using in AutoCAD. When I create a new drawing with my template, insert my assembly, then go up to parts list, it gives me the standard parts list. If I go to group, I can go out and select the one I save out there. When it is inserted in the drawing, It has the same material from the previous drawing, It does not update per the current drawing. does this make sense?

I think you need to create a new drawing template not just a parts list template. See if the link above helps.

Have you globally saved your new parts list style? Or only in one drawing file?

If you create a new style in a specific drawing then it only exists in that drawing, unless you save it back to your styles library. A better workflow is to save anything new you want to add to a drawing, (styles wise) to the drawing template file, then you've have it each time if for some reason you can save back to styles because IT/CAD Manager has locked you out.

Hi! I believe this is a PartsList style workflow issue. You need to make the same change in the active PartsList style. Save the style back to Style Library. Also make sure the same style exist in the idw template file.
