Parts invisible after simplification

Hi all, I am new to the inventor world and this forum, just trying to add a little CAD into my uni dissertation. 

I need to merge 3 components together - A motorbike and 2 wings - So I'm using the create simplified part tool to create an ipt with one merged surface.  

The request is performed but when the .ipt window opens all the parts are invisible. I can see them in the parts tree and under the derived assembly editing window. 

Any ideas how to make the parts re-appear?

Place all files into a folder.

Right click on the folder and select Send to Compressed (zipped) Folder.

Attach the resulting *.zip file here.

Good afternoon , thanks for your response. Unfortunately as this is my final marked thesis I cannot post the project online. 

Could you talk me through what you were going to check when you received the files?

Shift Win S to capture image of what you see and then Ctrl V in a Reply here...  (only need this portion of the screen)

 So all of my parts move over into the .ipt screen, they are just not visible. If I export the file to and .stl, the file is empty

I think I know what is wrong, but I think we can speed up the diagnosis.

Create a couple of dummy parts, say a cylinder and a cube.

Create an assembly of the cylinder and the cube.

Reproduce the issue with this dummy assembly that exhibits the same behavior as your proprietary data.

So if I try it with two new parts, the new simplification process works as it should. 

It seems as though the issue is with one of my route files that is an STL, if that file is removed from the assembly, then the process is successful. 

Does the process not work with an imported stl file?

Download the Autodesk Mesh Enabler and convert the mesh to a solid.

(And/or use that mesh only as reference in recreating high-quality native geometry.)

Can you Attach the original stl file here?

Hi there, 

The conversion to a solid does not complete as there are more than 5000 triangles on the model which Inventor cannot handle and gives a warning for before crashing

Sounds like poor quality geometry.

Why are you using stl mesh in a paper like this?
